courtyard

1

(sing) my life crying out there in the courtyard

sounds
threads from large spools of darkness
a sea between
dawn and that past

then is across ocean a mountain pass
daisies where we lay
earthward

(hum the first line)

2

where did you rest your dreams when I reached for them
(thighs like leaves on a slow stream in quickening summer

recollections drop to the back of the head
draw us out

sunlight pools on this bank that other
holds its shadows dappling the eye
how small you are how tall you were

(between is infinite

(repeat humming)
