walking these damn rues
of the Marais
Carl eternally indecisive,

yellow room with blue-white china
and a warm hearth
where I could roll up my sleeves,
play Maman, to his little
Carl Louis and serve mussels
a la Greque--
and he still hasn't said five damn
words
in French!
